Summerfruit Australia Announces Search for New CEO

Summerfruit Australia, the leading industry body representing the summerfruit growers in Australia, has announced the commencement of the search for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This strategic move is aimed at positioning the summerfruit industry to be more competitive and resilient in the ever-evolving agricultural landscape.

The current CEO, Trevor Ranford, who has served in this role for the past seven years, will be stepping down at the end of December. The Board of Summerfruit Australia expressed their gratitude towards Mr. Ranford for his dedication and service, with Board Chair Dean Morpeth acknowledging his exceptional contribution to the organization.

As Summerfruit Australia has experienced significant growth over the past year, with new project funding secured and additional resources available to enhance member value, the Board believes that this is the opportune moment to bring in a new leader to guide the organization towards a successful future. Alongside the recent appointment of Industry Development Manager Jess Byrne and existing Trade Development Manager Charlotte Brunt, the organization is also looking to fill the roles of Communications Manager and Biosecurity Officer in the coming year.

In line with their commitment to adding value for paying members, Summerfruit Australia is implementing changes such as partnering with a new accounting firm based in Echuca, revamping their website and other communication platforms, and enhancing their sponsorship framework. Board Chair Dean Morpeth expressed excitement about the future of the summerfruit industry, highlighting the active involvement of the Board members from key growing states and the positive momentum towards achieving their goals.

The announcement of the search for a new CEO comes ahead of the launch of the Summerfruit Masterplan, which will be unveiled to growers at an end-of-season event in April 2025. The recruitment process for the CEO position is currently underway, and updates will be provided as the search progresses. The Board of Summerfruit Australia is eager to appoint a new CEO who will lead and represent the industry with excellence.

In addition to the leadership changes, Summerfruit Australia is inviting industry stakeholders to subscribe to their newsletter to stay updated on the latest developments and initiatives within the organization.
