Diageo North America, a leading premium drinks company, recently announced plans to open a new manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery, Alabama. This new facility is part of Diageo’s strategic efforts to enhance its supply network and support future growth for its leading beverage alcohol brands.

The state-of-the-art facility, known as “Diageo Montgomery,” will span 360,000 square feet and have a multi-million case annual production capacity. This expansion will not only bolster Diageo’s supply chain operations but also facilitate its export business. Marsha McIntosh, President of North America Supply at Diageo, expressed gratitude to the city, state, and community leaders for their support in this endeavor.

The strategic location of Diageo Montgomery will bring the company closer to its customers and distributors in the southern region, reducing road travel and carbon emissions associated with logistics operations. The facility will also incorporate state-of-the-art technology to improve water and energy efficiency across the site.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey commended Diageo’s decision to invest in Montgomery, highlighting the positive economic impact of the new facility. With an investment of approximately $415 million, Diageo Montgomery is expected to be fully operational in the second half of 2025. The construction phase will create around 750 jobs, with approximately 100 full-time positions once the facility is operational.

Mayor Steven L. Reed of the City of Montgomery expressed enthusiasm for the new facility, emphasizing its contribution to industrial and logistics growth in the region. He noted that the collaboration between Diageo, the Montgomery Chamber, Montgomery County, and other partners underscores a commitment to building a stronger future for the community.

In addition to its investment in the new facility, Diageo has demonstrated a commitment to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) in Alabama. The company has allocated $750,000 to Alabama A&M, Alabama State University, and Tuskegee University, providing scholarships and financial support to future leaders at these institutions.

Overall, Diageo’s investment in the new manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery reflects its dedication to building a resilient and efficient supply network, supporting economic development in the region, and fostering partnerships with educational institutions to invest in future leaders. The company’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community engagement positions it as a leader in the premium drinks industry and a valuable contributor to the economic growth of Montgomery, Alabama.
