The annual Info Days on funding opportunities for EU agri-food promotion took place in Brussels on January 29th and 30th, with the participation of the European Union’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Christophe Hansen. This event, organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the European Research Executive Agency, aimed to provide insights and support to potential applicants in designing impactful promotion campaigns for agricultural products.
The event coincided with the publication of the 2025 calls for proposals for grants for information provision and promotion measures concerning agricultural products. Commissioner Hansen engaged with stakeholders, including national and EU-level agri-food trade organizations, producer organizations, associations of producer organizations, and agri-food sector bodies. With over 500 participants in attendance, the event facilitated discussions on policy aspects, priorities of the 2025 Annual Work Programme, and opportunities and challenges for promotion programs.
The adoption of the 2025 work program marked a milestone of 10 years of EU promotion policy, with more than 600 co-funded campaigns under the common signature “Enjoy, It’s from Europe.” The promotion campaigns aim to create new market opportunities for EU farmers and the wider food industry, as well as enhance their existing business. Additionally, these campaigns play a pivotal role in promoting the transition to a greener, more sustainable agricultural sector by showcasing the economic, environmental, and social sustainability aspects of EU products and production processes.
Internationally, the promotion policy supports positioning the EU food system as a global reference for sustainability and quality. In 2025, the Commission allocated €132 million to fund promotion activities for sustainable and high-quality EU agri-food products within the EU and worldwide. This funding is crucial in promoting EU products on a global scale, highlighting their quality, sustainability, and adherence to stringent production standards.
The event featured expert speakers and evaluators who shared insights on successful campaign development and implementation. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from current program beneficiaries and engage in discussions on the future of EU agri-food promotion. The event also emphasized the importance of promoting EU products in both EU and non-EU countries, showcasing the benefits of consuming sustainable and high-quality agricultural products.
Overall, the Info Days on funding opportunities for EU agri-food promotion provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, collaborate on impactful promotion campaigns, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the EU agricultural sector. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and quality, these campaigns play a vital role in enhancing the competitiveness of EU farmers and food producers on the global stage.
