The annual Info Days on funding opportunities for EU agri-food promotion took place in Brussels on January 29th and 30th, with the European Union’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Christophe Hansen, actively participating in the event. The event, which was also accessible online, coincided with the release of the 2025 calls for proposals for grants for information provision and promotion measures concerning agricultural products.

Commissioner Hansen engaged with various stakeholders, including national and EU-level agri-food trade organizations, producer organizations, associations of producer organizations, and agri-food sector bodies. With over 500 participants registered to attend, the event aimed to provide support to potential applicants in designing impactful promotion campaigns.

Jointly organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development and the European Research Executive Agency, the event focused on policy aspects on the first day, with discussions on the priorities of the 2025 Annual Work Programme and opportunities and challenges for promotion programmes. The second day centered on the development of successful campaigns, featuring expert evaluators and current program beneficiaries.

The adoption of the 2025 work program marked a decade of EU promotion policy, with more than 600 campaigns co-funded under the common signature “Enjoy, It’s from Europe”. Promotion campaigns for EU farm products are crucial in creating new market opportunities for EU farmers and the wider food industry, as well as supporting the transition to a greener and more sustainable agricultural sector.

The policy also emphasizes the economic, environmental, and social sustainability aspects of EU products and production processes, both within the EU and globally. Internationally, the promotion policy aims to position the EU food system as a global reference for sustainability and quality. In 2025, the Commission allocated €132 million to fund promotion activities for sustainable and high-quality EU agri-food products in the EU and worldwide.

Overall, the event served as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the promotion of EU agri-food products. It highlighted the importance of promotion campaigns in creating market opportunities, supporting sustainable practices, and enhancing the global reputation of EU agricultural products. With Commissioner Hansen’s active involvement and the engagement of various stakeholders, the event contributed to advancing the goals of EU promotion policy and fostering a more sustainable and competitive agri-food sector.
