Enhancing Integrated Pest Management

According to Marina Arshavsky Rosental, Global Marketing and Sales Director at Davik Industries, sticky traps play a crucial role in integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. They help monitor and mitigate insect populations effectively. “Our research focused on improving trap designs to enhance their trapping capabilities and reduce the dependency on chemical pesticides,” she stated. The Super Catchy trap stands out not only for its adhesive qualities but also for its scent, which is specifically formulated to attract adult male and female tobacco whiteflies and thrips.

Targeting Hard-to-Detect Pests

Whiteflies and thrips have long posed challenges for growers, as they can be difficult to control using conventional pesticides and often go unnoticed until significant crop damage occurs. The Super Catchy trap aims to tackle these pest populations at a critical stage, allowing for early intervention to avert severe crop damage. “By effectively targeting these elusive pests, we empower growers to maintain healthy crop yields,” Marina emphasized.

Combining Color and Scent for Maximum Efficacy

The Super Catchy trap employs a combination of colors and scents to maximize its effectiveness. Yellow sheets are used for various insects, blue sheets specifically target thrips, and black sheets are designed for the Tuta absoluta pest. This innovative approach builds upon the existing Catchy brand, which is known for its superior adhesive coating that ensures effective pest capture. “The dual-attraction mechanism of visual and olfactory cues allows growers to address pest challenges more effectively,” Marina explained.
