Queen Camilla has proven that romance is the perfect excuse to expand your wardrobe, as the royal once again borrowed her husband, King Charles’s coat for an outing.

The couple joined Prince William and the Princess of Wales at Horse Guards’ Parade for a concert marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday, enjoying performances from the likes of The Darkness and Freya Ridings. King Charles looked dapper in a pinstripe suit and his military medals, but it was the Queen’s coat that drew the attention of royal watchers, as Camilla once again wore her husband’s daglah – the traditional Saudi Arabian collarless coat that he was given during a state visit in 1998.

With its exquisite silver embroidery, the black garment was given to the King, then the Prince of Wales, by local designer Yahya Al-Bishri. Evidently, in the decades following Charles’s trip, Queen Camilla has had the daglah, an outfit typically worn at special occasions, tailored to fit her, considering the height difference between the two royals.

The piece has become a staple in the Queen’s wardrobe since her royal wedding, making her debut in the coat in 2008, during an engagement at RAF Cranwell. In 2010, she brought out her husband’s gift for the Royal Tattoo at Windsor Castle, and more recently, she wore it to mark Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
