Cloud Cover Coffee is embarking on an exciting journey with the launch of its inaugural brick-and-mortar café in downtown Buffalo, New York. This new establishment, strategically located adjacent to the Other Half Brewing Company’s expansive microbrewery and beer garden, boasts an inviting neon-lit ambiance and a dedicated entrance situated on the ground floor of the iconic Seneca One Tower.

The café’s beverage offerings are crafted using high-quality equipment, including Bunn machines for brewing drip coffee and a sophisticated 2-group La Marzocco Linea espresso machine for espresso-based drinks. The menu features a carefully curated selection of beverages, ranging from classic coffee to iced drinks, cold brews, and manual pour-overs, ensuring a delightful experience for all coffee enthusiasts.

In addition to its beverage offerings, Cloud Cover Coffee features a daily selection of locally baked pastries, complemented by a full menu of pub-style food available throughout the day from the adjoining brewpub. This combination of quality coffee and delicious food creates a unique atmosphere for patrons to enjoy.

Founded in 2014 by Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan, and Andrew Burman in Brooklyn, New York, Other Half Brewing has significantly expanded its footprint with additional locations in New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Bloomfield, New York. The Buffalo location, which opened in 2022, initially served as an indoor beer garden and bottle shop before relocating to a larger space within the Seneca One Tower last year.

At the heart of Other Half’s new location is a vibrant industrial design, featuring bold lighting and a striking 20-tap bar alongside a full kitchen. Customers can choose to enjoy freshly canned beer to go or relax in the café while engaging in games like pinball, all while being entertained by a 12-foot video wall. In warmer months, the venue transforms into a spacious beer garden, perfect for outdoor games and gatherings.

Following the introduction of several coffee stouts, Other Half Brewing officially established Cloud Cover Coffee as a sister brand in 2022, which specializes in offering whole bean, house-roasted, single-origin coffees available for online purchase. The integration of Cloud Cover coffees into Other Half’s lineup has resulted in a series of innovative coffee-forward stouts, such as the recently released Bang On! stout, which features Madagascar vanilla and coffee sourced from the Keramo region in Sidama, Ethiopia.

With the café now fully operational, the synergy between coffee and beer is becoming increasingly dynamic. As Andrew Burman noted, “We have been working on some new collaborations. Currently, we are experimenting with coffee drinks inspired by our beers and stouts, including a Banana Macadamia Cold Brew based on our Bananaversary stout.”

Sam Richardson oversees the sourcing and roast profiling for all Cloud Cover coffees. While production roasting takes place on shared Diedrich roasting equipment at the Red Hook Coffee Roasters facility in Brooklyn, the primary focus for Cloud Cover remains on delivering exceptional experiences to customers in Buffalo.

“At this moment, we are concentrating on Buffalo,” Burman stated. “Our goal is to create the best experience for our customers by exploring interesting coffee varieties and techniques that elevate their experience in an exciting direction.”
