Riso Gallo’s UK & Ireland Young Risotto Chef of the Year 2025 competition is now open for entries, inviting young student chefs aged 17-23 who are pursuing college education to showcase their culinary skills and creativity. The competition, organized by Riso Gallo, a sustainable producer of rice, aims to promote sustainability and reduce food waste by encouraging participants to utilize every part of their ingredients.
Participants are required to create, photograph, and explain the inspiration behind their risotto dish. Selected entrants will have the opportunity to compete in regional heats, where they will prepare their recipes for evaluation by professional chefs. The regional winners will then advance to the Grand Final in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 2nd, where the Riso Gallo UK & Ireland Young Risotto Chef of the Year 2025 will be crowned.
Jason Morrison, Managing Director of Riso Gallo UK, emphasized the importance of addressing food waste to combat climate change and urged young chefs to embrace sustainable practices in their culinary creations. In addition to the prestigious title, the winner of the competition will receive a three-day work experience opportunity with acclaimed chef Fabio Pisani at the Michelin-starred Il Luogo Aimo e Nadia in Milan, Italy. The runner-up will have the chance to complete a stage at the Italian Embassy in London, providing valuable experience and networking opportunities for aspiring chefs.
The competition will feature regional heats across various locations in the UK and Ireland, culminating in the Grand Final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The final judging panel will include renowned chefs and industry experts, ensuring a fair and rigorous evaluation of the participants’ culinary skills and creativity.
