Natural Grocers expands its private brand lineup with the addition of soups

Natural Grocers, a specialty grocery chain, recently announced the launch of six new private label flavors of organic, plant-based soup. These new soups are gluten- and dairy-free, and come in 14-ounce shelf-stable pouches. The flavors include butternut squash, creamy tomato, sauerkraut, sweet corn, three lentil, and vegan chili bean, all priced at $4.49. Natural Grocers takes pride in the fact that these soups do not contain any artificial ingredients or preservatives.

The introduction of these heat-and-serve soups is part of Natural Grocers’ strategy to expand its private label offerings. Private label products accounted for 8.4% of the company’s sales in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, showing growth from the previous year. The company’s co-president, Kemper Isely, highlighted the success of their house brand, which now includes over 800 products.

In the latest quarter, Natural Grocers added 19 new private label items, such as limited edition coffee flavors, frozen pizza varieties, and household products. Throughout 2024, the company introduced a total of 80 new private label products, demonstrating their commitment to expanding their house-branded offerings.

This focus on private label expansion has been a key growth driver for Natural Grocers. In 2023, the company also launched private label products including mustard and canned seafood, further diversifying their portfolio. By increasing the proportion of sales from private label items and continuously adding new products to their lineup, Natural Grocers aims to strengthen its position in the market and cater to the evolving preferences of consumers.

The decision to launch new private label soup flavors aligns with the growing demand for convenient, healthy, and affordable meal options. As consumers increasingly prioritize health and wellness, Natural Grocers’ plant-based, gluten- and dairy-free soups cater to those seeking nutritious and flavorful choices. The company’s commitment to using high-quality ingredients and avoiding artificial additives resonates with health-conscious shoppers looking for transparency and authenticity in their food purchases.

Moreover, the affordability of these private label soups at $4.49 per pouch makes them an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. By offering a range of flavors to suit different preferences, Natural Grocers aims to appeal to a wide audience and drive sales growth in the competitive grocery market.

The success of Natural Grocers’ private label strategy reflects the company’s ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences and differentiate itself in a crowded market. By leveraging its brand reputation and commitment to quality, Natural Grocers continues to innovate and expand its product offerings to meet the evolving needs of its customer base.

In conclusion, Natural Grocers’ introduction of new private label soup flavors demonstrates its dedication to providing healthy, convenient, and affordable options for consumers. The company’s focus on private label expansion has been a key driver of growth, and its commitment to quality and innovation sets it apart in the competitive grocery industry. As Natural Grocers continues to introduce new products and strengthen its house brand, it is poised for continued success and market leadership.
