DFDS, a prominent logistics and shipping company, has recently entered into a new five-year, multimillion Euro contract with Nomad Foods, Europe’s largest frozen food company. This partnership signifies a significant milestone in the companies’ mutual growth ambitions and dedication to streamlining supply chains.

The agreement consolidates multiple individual contracts between DFDS and various Nomad Foods subsidiaries, solidifying DFDS and Nomad Foods as long-term partners. The collaboration commenced in 2018 when DFDS secured a tender with Birds Eye for transportation and distribution services in the UK market. The partnership further strengthened in 2023 when DFDS acquired McBurney Transport Group, which had been collaborating with Birds Eye since 2003. This acquisition more than doubled DFDS’s volume with Nomad Foods, enhancing their warehousing and distribution capabilities.

Matt O’Dell, Managing Director, England at DFDS, expressed pride in the longstanding collaboration with Nomad Foods, spanning over two decades. He highlighted the development of tailored operational solutions that have driven organic growth for both companies. With the extended partnership, DFDS and Nomad Foods are focused on improving supply chain efficiency while prioritizing low emission initiatives to minimize environmental impact.

The goal of the partnership is to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement. By consolidating transport, customs, and logistics services under one strategic agreement, DFDS and Nomad Foods have established a strong foundation to achieve this objective. Both companies are dedicated to exploring sustainable solutions, such as using solar-panelled trailers, double-deck trailers, and alternative fuel transport options to reduce their environmental footprint.

Simon Stokoe, Group Logistics Director at Nomad Foods, emphasized the significance of the multimillion Euro agreement with DFDS, highlighting the long-standing history between the two companies and the trusted services provided over the years. The shared mission for more sustainable transportation and supply chain efficiencies aligns with both companies’ business objectives. Stokoe expressed optimism about the partnership with DFDS over the next five years and the potential for achieving significant milestones together.

In conclusion, the partnership between DFDS and Nomad Foods represents a strategic alliance based on shared values, commitment to sustainability, and a focus on operational excellence. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, the companies are poised to drive mutual growth and innovation in the frozen food logistics sector. The new contract underscores their dedication to collaboration, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, setting a strong foundation for future success.
