Avercasso Introduces Compact Green Coffee Sorter, the CS Lite, in New Product Release from Roast Magazine

Avercasso, a leading Taiwanese manufacturer of AI-driven green coffee analysis and sorting machines, has recently introduced a new product called the CS Lite. This smaller version of their popular CS One model is designed specifically for home roasters and low-volume commercial roasters. It utilizes similar internal hardware and AI capabilities to quickly detect and remove green coffee beans with primary and secondary defects as defined by the Specialty Coffee Association.

The CS Lite is tailored for nano roasters, defined as small-scale coffee producers who roast less than 100 kilograms per week. This machine aims to help this audience achieve precise sorting with efficiency and flexibility. With dual 4K cameras and AI modules customized for sorting natural- or washed-process coffees, the CS Lite can identify defects such as insect damage, breakage, mold, and foreign matter.

While the CS Lite scans up to 2.5 kilograms of green coffee per hour, half the speed of the CS One, it is housed in a compact, drum roaster-like format. The Lite model features a 2.5-kilo-capacity hopper, though it is not expandable like the CS One’s hopper. The analytical features of the CS Lite are streamlined for smaller-scale operations, with AI modules for various processes available as a subscription service priced at $500 per year.

Unlike the CS One, the Lite model does not generate post-sorting reports detailing defect percentages per batch. Avercasso’s advanced image recognition technology, developed with support from parent company AVer Information Inc., is at the core of the CS Lite’s sorting capabilities. The company first unveiled the CS One at the HOST trade show in Milan in October 2023.

The CS Lite is priced at $10,000 and is set to be available for shipping to United States customers by March 2025. Avercasso is committed to driving innovation in AI-powered coffee sorting and automation, with plans for more advanced solutions to enhance efficiency, precision, and sustainability in the specialty coffee industry.
