Aerbio, a pioneering biotechnology company, recently announced the addition of Kasper Madsen, CEO of Viking Malt, to its Advisory Board. With over 25 years of international experience in process-intensive FMCG businesses, Madsen’s expertise will be a valuable asset as Aerbio works to bring Proton, its low-carbon protein ingredient, to market.

Having held leadership positions in publicly listed, family-owned, and private equity-owned businesses, Madsen brings a wealth of knowledge in supply chain operations, including procurement, production, logistics, ESG, quality management, and project management. His deep functional expertise complements his extensive leadership experience, making him an ideal candidate for guiding Aerbio in its mission to commercialize Proton.

In addition to his supply chain background, Madsen also has a lifelong interest in fermentation, biochemistry, and food science. Aerbio sees this as a unique opportunity to leverage his passion for these areas to drive key development initiatives in the company’s future endeavors.

Expressing his excitement about joining Aerbio, Madsen stated, “Aerbio has a bold mission to transform our food system, and with a passionate team and strong technical base, the foundations are laid. I look forward to offering guidance on scaling operations, establishing new capital projects, and transitioning the company from a developmental phase to an operational one. My focus will initially be on advising on site selection for commercial operations and navigating technical, economic, and political considerations to determine the best locations.”

Aerbio’s CEO, Kaspar Kristiansen, expressed his pride in having Madsen on board, highlighting his expertise in sustainable food systems and fermentation as valuable assets to the company. Kristiansen emphasized the importance of delivering projects on time and on budget, citing Madsen’s track record in project execution as a significant advantage for Aerbio as they scale up their operations.

Kasper Madsen’s career trajectory includes roles at Carlsberg, where he held positions in packaging and processing before assuming international roles in Thailand, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom. During his time at Carlsberg, Madsen oversaw operations related to hop farming, malting plants, and brewing, including construction and start-up of plants, as well as M&A activities. As a member of the Executive Committee for Carlsberg at the group level, Madsen led supply chain, production, and logistics efforts, implementing Lean Production and Excellence Projects.

After his tenure at Carlsberg, Madsen worked with the Boston Consulting Group, advising Danish and international companies on operational improvement, with a focus on supply chain, product development, innovation, and CapEx management. He has also held non-executive board roles and advisory positions with Nordic companies such as Rockwool, Kohberg Bakery Group, and Unifeeder. Since 2017, Madsen has served as CEO of Viking Malt, a leading producer of pilsner malt and special malts for beer and whiskey.

In conclusion, Aerbio’s appointment of Kasper Madsen to its Advisory Board signifies a significant step forward in the company’s mission to bring Proton to market. With Madsen’s extensive experience in supply chain operations, fermentation, and international business, Aerbio is well-positioned to achieve its goals of revolutionizing the food industry with sustainable, low-carbon protein ingredients.
