In 2024, Brazil reached a significant milestone by shipping 5.294 million tons of chicken meat, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. This achievement was highlighted in a year-end market report released by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). The total export volume for the year surpassed all previous records in the sector’s history.

The export revenues for Brazilian chicken meat also saw a notable growth in 2024, totaling US$ 9.928 billion by the end of the year. This represented a 1.3% increase compared to the revenue generated in 2023, which stood at US$ 9.796 billion. However, the revenue for December increased by 4.6% to US$ 856.9 million.

Ricardo Santin, the President of ABPA, expressed optimism about the industry’s outlook for 2025, citing the positive indicators observed throughout 2024. He noted that the average monthly shipments exceeding 440 thousand tons indicated a strong foundation for continued growth and profitability in the sector’s agribusinesses.

In terms of international trade, China remained the top importer of Brazilian chicken meat in 2024, despite a 17.6% decrease in volume compared to the previous year. The United Arab Emirates, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa were among the other significant importers from Brazil. Additionally, the European Union, Mexico, Iraq, and South Korea also featured in the list of top importing countries for Brazilian chicken meat.

Among the exporting states within Brazil, Paraná retained its position as the leading state in chicken meat exports, with 2.174 million tons shipped in 2024. Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Goiás also contributed significantly to the country’s export figures, showcasing a diverse geographic distribution of poultry production within Brazil.

The strong performance of the Brazilian chicken meat industry in 2024 reflects its competitiveness in the global market and its ability to meet the evolving demands of international consumers. The sector’s resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges have positioned it for continued growth and success in the years to come.

In conclusion, the record-breaking export volumes and revenues achieved by Brazil in the chicken meat sector in 2024 underscore the country’s prominence as a key player in the global poultry industry. The industry’s commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability will continue to drive its success and contribute to the economic prosperity of Brazil.
