BJ’s Wholesale Club and Costco are both expanding their warehouse operations, with BJ’s planning to open between 25 and 30 new locations over the next two fiscal years. Costco, on the other hand, is set to open 29 new warehouses in 2025, including three relocations. While BJ’s has already opened three new stores in Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina, they have plans for additional locations in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, New Jersey, and New York. It is worth noting that BJ’s upcoming stores will vary in formats, with the introduction of the BJ’s market concept in Delray Beach, Florida, following the success of the first BJ’s market in Warwick, Rhode Island.

In addition to their U.S. expansion, BJ’s is also set to debut in Texas with several new clubs and gas stations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area starting in early 2026. BJ’s Chairman and CEO Bob Eddy expressed excitement about the company’s entry into the Lone Star State, citing economic growth and a growing population as key factors in their decision to expand to Texas.

Meanwhile, Costco has committed to opening seven new clubs in the U.S. across five states between March and the end of April. These new locations include two in California and Texas each, as well as one in Massachusetts, Florida, and Michigan. Additionally, Costco is also opening stores in Minami Alps, Japan, and Ardeer, Australia in April. Last year, Costco opened 23 new warehouses in the U.S. and one in Canada, as reported in the company’s annual Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The growth plans of both BJ’s Wholesale Club and Costco reflect their commitment to meeting the evolving needs of their customers and expanding their presence in key markets. As the retail landscape continues to evolve, these warehouse retailers are positioning themselves for success through strategic expansion and innovation in store formats. With a focus on customer convenience and the overall shopping experience, both BJ’s and Costco are poised for continued growth and success in the competitive retail industry.

In conclusion, the expansion plans of BJ’s Wholesale Club and Costco signal a bright future for these warehouse retailers as they continue to adapt to changing consumer preferences and market dynamics. By investing in new store locations, formats, and markets, both BJ’s and Costco are positioning themselves for sustained growth and success in the competitive retail landscape. As they continue to innovate and expand, these warehouse retailers are poised to meet the needs of their customers and drive continued success in the years to come.
