Innovasea’s BiomassPro: Revolutionizing Aquaculture with Advanced AI Technology

Innovasea, a leader in aquatic solutions, has made significant strides in the aquaculture industry with the introduction of its AI-powered BiomassPro. This innovative algorithm has undergone rigorous testing and has demonstrated over 95 percent accuracy in real-time weight estimations of gilthead seabream, particularly for Aquafrais Cannes, a company managing over 150 bass and bream pens along the French coastline.

Automated Solutions for Enhanced Efficiency

Innovasea’s BiomassPro system features a fully automated, lightweight camera weighing only 7.5 kg, making it easy to deploy and relocate between pens. Utilizing an advanced algorithm, the system autonomously analyzes fish stocks and provides precise biomass estimates through an intuitive dashboard. This eliminates the need for manual sampling, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

“We are excited to expand our multi-species offering and bring the first gilthead seabream biomass solution to market,” stated Rafael Cordero, VP of Innovasea, in a press release. “Our compact, portable solution is uniquely suited to meet the demands of seabream farmers who oversee numerous pens and require accurate, efficient biomass estimation across their operations.”

Streamlining Operations with Real-Time Data

The BiomassPro solution allows for a rapid camera setup that takes just five minutes and can be accomplished by a single individual. In contrast, the previous setup process required four workers and lasted over thirty minutes at each location. The availability of real-time data, which is tracked in the BiomassPro dashboard, enables Aquafrais Cannes to enhance growth performance through improved monitoring, optimize feed costs with more accurate feed rations, streamline workforce efficiency, and promote fish welfare through non-intrusive sampling methods.

“Thanks to BiomassPro, we get more precise estimates in less time,” remarked Jérôme Hémar, general manager at Aquafrais. “Now, we can better predict sales and reassign our lean team from biomass calculations to other vital farm tasks.”

Expanding Species Support and Future Developments

Innovasea’s BiomassPro currently supports six different species, including Atlantic salmon, cobia, gilthead seabream, king salmon, red snapper, and yellowtail. Furthermore, a new algorithm specifically designed for European sea bass is expected to be released later this year, further enhancing the system’s versatility and applicability in various aquaculture environments.

The Future of Aquaculture

The introduction of the BiomassPro system marks a significant advancement in aquaculture technology, enabling farmers to leverage AI for more accurate and efficient biomass estimations. By minimizing labor requirements and maximizing data accuracy, Innovasea is not only enhancing operational efficiency for aquaculture businesses but also contributing to sustainable fishing practices.

In an industry where precise biomass estimation is critical for profitability and sustainability, Innovasea’s BiomassPro stands out as a game changer. As aquaculture continues to expand globally, the need for innovative solutions that promote sustainability and efficiency will only grow. Innovasea’s commitment to advancing technology in this space positions it as a key player in the future of aquaculture.
