Podium Coffee Club is a new online specialty coffee subscription service that offers customers the opportunity to enjoy roasts exclusively from companies that have won national roasting awards from reputable competitions. Launched on January 14, this service promises one curated monthly coffee selected by Podium Coffee Club Co-Founder Sam LaRobardiere, a certified Q Grader and founder of Theory Coffee Roasters. The coffees are shipped within 24 hours of roasting, and there are no contracts or early cancellation notices required for membership.
The goal of Podium Coffee Club is to simplify the process of finding exceptional coffees by relying on results from renowned coffee roasting competitions in the U.S. to identify the best roasters. The selection criteria include roasters that have won an “overall” title, gold or silver medal in the Golden Bean North America competition, a top-six finish in the US Roaster Championship, or a Good Food Award. Additionally, the platform is open to partnering with roasters that have received recognition from Roast Magazine’s Roaster of the Year award or Coffee Review’s top coffees of the year.
While the coffees sent to subscribers may not be the award-winning coffees, they are meticulously cupped by LaRobardiere for both quality and categorization. The selections are not random but thoughtfully chosen to offer subscribers a unique and enjoyable coffee experience. The Podium Gold series features crowd-pleasing coffees with classic, chocolatey, or caramely profiles, while the Podium Platinum selections showcase coffees with experimental processing methods, prized varieties, and complex flavor profiles.
In addition to the existing subscription services, Podium Coffee Club plans to introduce Podium Flash, a platform that will provide opportunities to purchase rare and limited coffees through text messages. These offerings are more likely to include the actual award-winning roasts or coffees used in barista competitions. This expansion reflects Podium Coffee Club’s commitment to promoting specialty coffee and showcasing the exceptional roasting talent in the U.S.
The collaboration between LaRobardiere and co-founder Paul Piggott, a digital media and marketing professional, underscores the shared vision of bringing awareness to the outstanding roasting talent in the U.S. that may not yet have widespread recognition. By offering a curated selection of coffees from award-winning roasters, Podium Coffee Club aims to be a positive advocate for specialty coffee and provide subscribers with access to top-tier coffee experiences.
