New trade data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service indicates that US broiler exports for January and February 2023 were 3.3% higher than the same period in 2022, reaching a new record of 617,478 metric tons.
The value of these exports was $746.6m, down 3.7% year on year. Of the total shipment, 54.6% went to the top six markets, namely Mexico, China, Cuba, Taiwan, Guatemala, and Canada.
Broiler exports to Mexico alone increased by 20.8% YoY, while those to China decreased by 23.2% YoY.
Turkey exports decreased by 26.2% YoY due to the tight supply of US turkey products.
Total egg exports decreased by 404.4% YoY to 20.4 million dozen, but the value of those exports increased by 34.9% to $51.8m.
