Misapplication of the vaccine against African swine fever (ASF) in domestic pigs resulted in several deaths, initially discontinuing use of the vaccine in Vietnam. Immunization has now resumed and the vaccination course is better managed.

Vietnam has reportedly resumed vaccination of domestic pigs against African swine fever (ASF). It was stopped in late August after dozens of animals died after vaccination. State veterinary officers said the cause of death was the result of improper handling that did not follow agency guidelines. Deaths occurred due to medication problems. However, in other cases I had no problems, but got positive results.

In Vinh Phuc province, veterinary authorities will soon extend his ASF vaccination. The plan is to use up to 600,000 cans. The vaccination process should be more tightly controlled in accordance with Ministry guidelines and animal health service directives. Monitoring to assess vaccine efficacy continues.
