According to surveys by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the sales of pork in Brazil have increased by 14.9% this year.
In February 2023, exports of pork reached 78.6 thousand tons, which is a 10% increase from the same month in 2022. In terms of revenue, there was a 25.4% increase in February 2023, generating US$ 184.9 million compared to US$ 147.4 million in the same month in 2022.
China remains the largest importer of Brazilian pork, with 73.1 thousand tons in the first two months of 2023, followed by Hong Kong and Chile.
The president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, expects a possible increase of over 10% in exports for the whole of 2023. Recent market openings, such as the first sales to the Mexican market, are expected to reinforce this trend.
