The European Union has seen a surge in imports of broiler meat and eggs from Ukraine since the beginning of 2023.

The EU lifted import quotas to support the country, but this move has sparked concerns among EU poultry producers about the influx of poultry products.

In the first eight weeks of the year, Ukraine exported 94% more broiler meat to the EU compared to the previous year, while egg exports stood at 1,370% more compared to the same period in 2022.

Some European poultry business organisations are worried about the increase, but the Polish poultry meat promotion fund believes the concerns are exaggerated, citing Ukraine’s lower quality and animal welfare standards.
