Alltech is excited to announce the expansion of its mycotoxin testing program, Alltech® RAPIREAD™, through a new collaboration with Waters™ | VICAM. This collaboration includes the integration of the Vertu™ TOUCH analytical tool, which offers simple touch-screen operation to deliver full-range quantitative results for up to six major mycotoxins, including aflatoxin, fumonisin, vomitoxin (DON), zearalenone, ochratoxin A, and the combination of T-2 and HT-2 toxins.

Mycotoxins, natural substances produced by molds and fungi, are becoming increasingly prevalent in agriculture. The 2024 Alltech Harvest Analysis reveals that over 95% of crops are contaminated with at least one mycotoxin, emphasizing the need for robust quality control programs in the industry. Proactive mycotoxin management is crucial as these toxins can pose a significant threat to animal health and productivity.

Dr. Alexandra Weaver, global technical support for Alltech, emphasizes the importance of understanding the risks associated with mycotoxins in feed and animals. Rapid tests at feed mills or on-farm can help detect mycotoxin types or content, but incorporating Alltech RAPIREAD can provide valuable insights into the potential impact on performance, health, and profitability.

The Alltech RAPIREAD system, introduced in 2020, offers customers the ability to identify and analyze mycotoxin risks within minutes. Through collaborations with Neogen and now Waters | VICAM, the integration of the Vertu TOUCH reader and mixer expands analysis capabilities to include complete feed, enabling comprehensive on-site testing with quick results and high accuracy.

The Vertu TOUCH reader, launched three years ago, features a touch screen for user-friendly operation and the technology to detect six mycotoxin levels in a single sample within 10 minutes. Waters | VICAM, a trusted provider of mycotoxin testing products since 1987, ensures data security and network connectivity with the addition of the CT-Connect feature to the Vertu TOUCH system.

Lanny Smith, global sales manager at Waters | VICAM, highlights the company’s commitment to delivering quality mycotoxin testing solutions to the food and feed industries. The collaboration with Alltech enables seamless data transfer and secure networking, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of mycotoxin analysis.
