New cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) occur almost daily in the UK, according to the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Animal and Plant Health Service.

H5N1 was confirmed in poultry on 4 October 2022 at Farm No. 2 near Hadley, Barburg, Suffolk, and at farms near Farringdon, Vale, Whitehorse, Oxfordshire.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza was also suspected yesterday in poultry on farms near Wymondham, South Norfolk, Norfolk, and on farms near Attleborough, Breckland, Norfolk.

In both cases, a 3 km long Temporary Control Area A and a 10 km long Temporary Control Area B were established around each site. All infected on-site poultry are to be humanely culled.
